" My mission is to empower
you to be—YOU!
My go-to approach is creativity!"
Lisa Cinar
Art Therapy is My Wheelhouse!
Lisa Cinar enters the field of art therapy with a unique foot in the arts, narrative practices, and somatics. Her work as art therapist is based on supporting you in finding and being your most authentic and aligned self. Other special interests include chronic pain and fibromyalgia management as well as grief due to the loss of a dear companion animal—let's change public perceptions around this very real form of grief!
With over two decades of experience working in the creative field in many roles—including educator, author, illustrator, entrepreneur and facilitator—Lisa understands the power and versatility of the creative process from many angles and applications and is excited to draw on her personal knowledge to create a one-of-a-kind-therapeutic-experience, uniquely tailored to your needs!
My Creative Journey
Lisa graduated with a BFA in Visual Arts from The Emily Carr University of Art & Design where she then went on to teach a certificate course in illustration & writing for picture books for 7 years. After teaching she expanded her online entrepreneurial project Draw Me A Lion—centered around the importance of play, creativity and imagination—while continuing to pursue her freelance illustration career. She holds a VATID Master Level Diploma in Art Therapy from the Vancouver Art Therapy Institute and is a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor.
German-Turkish by heritage, Lisa grew up in Germany, spent her adolescence in Boston MA, and now resides in Vancouver BC, Canada, the unceded traditional territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations.
Some of the things she cares about are: spending time in nature, books, new ideas and ways of being, biking, animals, neurodiversity, fibromyalgia community, climate advocacy and problem solving through harnessing the creative process!
